Alexander J. Buehler (Alex) is the President & CEO of Integrated Water Services, a private equity-backed company that delivers product solutions, technical and digital services, and field services for water and wastewater treatment facilities. Prior to this, Alex served as Interim CEO of LiqTech International, a publicly traded manufacturing and technology company based in Copenhagen, Denmark, specializing in advanced membranes and filters made from silicon carbide ceramics.
Before joining LiqTech, Alex was President & CEO of the Brock Group, a leading provider of soft craft services across multiple sectors, including energy, chemical, power, pharmaceutical, and pulp & paper. Earlier, he served as EVP of Global Resources for Intertek, a publicly traded company headquartered in London and a market leader in quality assurance services across various industries, including energy, mining, power, infrastructure, and aerospace.
Before Intertek, Alex was President and CEO of Energy Maintenance Services (EMS), a private equity-backed company focused on integrity maintenance services for major energy companies throughout North America. During his tenure, he successfully led the company through an industry downturn and facilitated its sale to First Reserve, another private equity firm specializing in energy.
From May 2011 to July 2014, Alex was the Chief Financial Officer of Energy Recovery Inc. (NASDAQ: ERII), a publicly traded company that designs and manufactures engineered components and systems for energy recovery in high-pressure applications such as desalination, refrigeration, and industrial wastewater.
Prior to Energy Recovery, Alex spent seven years in executive leadership roles at Insituform Technologies, Inc. (now Azuria Water Solutions), a global leader in water and energy infrastructure technology and services for municipalities and industrial industries. His roles at Insituform included several executive positions in the U.S. and abroad, most recently as Vice President of its European operations. Earlier in his career, Alex served for five years in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he was program manager of construction projects for base camps in the Balkans and assessed invasion routes into Serbia during the Kosovo Air Campaign.
Alex is a seasoned business executive with extensive experience in leadership, general management, strategy, financial oversight, and operational execution. He currently serves as an independent board member and Chair of the Audit Committee for Energy Recovery (NASDAQ: ERII), Non-Executive Chairman of LiqTech Systems (NASDAQ: LIQT), and previously served as a board member and Chair of the Audit Committee for Viscount Systems (OTCQB: VSYS).
Alex holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an M.B.A. in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He resides in Dripping Springs, TX, near Austin.
