Dennis Livingston is the Technical Director and President of M|MBR Systems, LLC, which he co-founded in 2018. A licensed Professional Engineer in Environmental Engineering with a background in chemical engineering, Dennis is a pioneering figure in membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology, with over 22 years of experience driving innovation in the field.
Throughout his career, Dennis has been instrumental in the design, startup, and optimization of hundreds of MBR systems, ranging from 5,000 to 42 million gallons per day (GPD). His teams delivered the first MBR system in the U.S. using rigid flat plate technology and later introduced the first system with flexible flat sheet modules.
Dennis has played a key role in the design, piloting, and commercialization of 13 different membrane technologies for MBR applications and is named on 10 MBR-related patents. He has authored numerous papers, contributed to MBR texts, and conducted over 50 full-scale MBR pilots. His work has helped deliver more than 325 wastewater treatment plants, collectively treating 250 million gallons of wastewater per day to some of the highest standards in the industry.
In 2023, M|MBR Systems was acquired by Integrated Water Services, where Dennis has continued to collaborate with industry experts, leading the development of the BluBox™ Modular MBR System. He remains a respected leader in the field, frequently conducting educational workshops and seminars.
