PROJECT TYPE: Resorts/Retreats, Tribal Projects
SERVICE: Construction
TECHNOLOGY: Textile Filter
SUSTAINABLE / WATER REUSE: Infiltration Basin

LOCATION: Arizona
DESCRIPTION: The View Hotel is a 95 room hotel located within the Navajo Nation and Navajo Tribal Park at Monument Valley. Monument Valley is a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of vast sandstone buttes located on the Arizona-Utah state line near the Four Corners area within the range of the Navajo Nation Reservation.

A new wastewater treatment system was needed to accommodate the expansion of flows from the View Hotel and entrance to the Monument Valley National Park. IWS was contracted to construct the new treatment system which featured four AX-Max treatment modules (www.orenco.com), two 30,000 gallon fiberglass tanks (www.xerxes.com), and an infiltrator drain field (www.infiltratorsystems.com) in May 2014.

The wastewater treatment system was designed Richard Jex, PE. The AX-Max units were placed below grade to minimize any visual impact to the beautiful landscape and canyon views. The modular nature of the AX-Max units allowed the facility to accommodate the variable flows from the seasonal nature of the tourism industry in Monument Valley.
