Located in the Santa Maria Valley on California’s Central Coast, the Presqu’ile Winery (www.presquilewine.com) is constructing a permanent winery and tasting room which required a wastewater treatment system for its process water from wine making operations. The winery includes 73 acres of certified sustainably farmed vineyards on the 200 acre site where they produce Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc.The treatment system was designed by Summit Engineering, Inc.(www.summit-sr.com) of Santa Rosa, CA and can accommodate the production of up to 25,000 cases of wine per year. The process wastewater includes all aspects of wine making from crush through the fermentation and bottling process. This is the first Orenco Advantex project on the California Central Coast to treat winery process wastewater. The treatment train includes the following: a) three, 4,000 gallon settling tanks; b) one, 4,000 gallon recirculation tank; c) one, 25,000 gallon effluent tank; d) six Advantex AX-100 treatment units; and e) a spray field for dispersal.
The treatment system installation was designed with a small footprint so as to accommodate the various landscaping and parking lot features for the facility. As a result, the system excavation was fairly deep and required extensive earth moving to step back the excavation and set the tanks. The layout included placing the Advantex Pods on bedded gravel on top of the fiberglass tanks.
The treated process wastewater is dispersed in a 1.25 acre spray field located approximately 300 feet from the treatment system. The spray field area is covered with native plants and grasses to maintain the natural setting of the area.
Richard Ross, Project Engineer for Summit Engineering, designed the system and oversaw the construction. Richard provided his perspective, “We were very pleased with the IWS team and their responsiveness. They did an excellent job of communicating back to the engineer and general
contractor.”IWS was part of the construction team under contract with the General Contractor, Cello & Maudru Construction (www.cello-maudru.com). Cello & Maudru needed IWS to mobilize to the site first and get the wastewater infrastructure in place before the other trades could begin their work, which put the IWS scope of work in the critical path of the project. IWS was able to complete construction within 60 days of contract execution.

This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.Additionally, keyboard users will find quick-navigation and content-skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first elements of the site while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside it.
Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.
