The Chicken Ranch Rancheria Indian tribe operates a casino near Jamestown, California. The Tribe was interested in replacing the existing textile filter wastewater system with the installation and construction of a New Water Reclamation Facility (WRF). This new plant would treat the collected wastewater to tertiary standards and use an extensive drip irrigation system for discharge of the treated water. The overall project cost for all of IWS work and the owner provided equipment was approximately $2.3M.
Overview: The Chicken Ranch Rancheria Indian Tribe, operating a casino near Jamestown, California, contracted IWS to replace their existing wastewater treatment system with a new, state-of-the-art Water Reclamation Facility (WRF). This $2.3 million project aimed to treat wastewater to tertiary standards and utilize drip irrigation for discharge.
IWS’s Key Contributions:
- Value Engineering and Constructability: IWS collaborated with the project team, including Jetco, Inc. and ICS Online, Inc., to conduct a thorough constructability review and implement value engineering strategies. This proactive approach ensured project efficiency ,cost-effectiveness, and compliance with Environmental Protection Agency regulations.
- Comprehensive Scope of Work: IWS managed all aspects of the project, including:
- Installation of 700 feet of new sewer main line, manholes, and a grease trap lateral, navigating challenging steep slope and parking lot conditions.
- Extensive site civil work, including clearing, excavation, concrete pads, walkways, yard piping, electrical conduits, site lighting, and access improvements to support reclaimed water infrastructure.
- Building upgrades, including structural modifications, new slab and footings, and interior renovations for electrical and operations in the treatment facility.
- Installation of a Fluidyne Sequence Batch Reactor (ISAM) system, tertiary filtration, backwash system, and associated pumps and electrical components.
- Installation of two 25,000-gallon bolted steel storage tanks for treated wastewater storage and water supply purposes.
- Construction of a masonry pump house and installation of a drip irrigation system with over 20,000 linear feet of tubing across six zones in a challenging terrain, supporting landscape irrigation with treated water.
- Installation of ISAM and irrigation control panels, working closely with the owner’s control engineers for process control programming and SCADA integration.
Successful Project Delivery: IWS completed the project on budget and on schedule, exceeding the client’s expectations.
